In light of the sacred holidays our Jewish friends will observe during this Thanksgiving season I find it fitting that a recent Torah portion focused on justice.
Right before his death, Moses instructs the Israelites in Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9, to appoint righteous judges and to pursue justice. Israel is still committed to that same justice for all of its citizens as reflected in its laws which are designed to protect all faiths.
In fact, the safest place for Christians in the Middle East is Israel. In addition, Israel's Defense Forces is one of the most moral militaries in the world, yet astoundingly, the Jewish State is treated in the international media, by some world leaders and by the UN completely unjustly.
In September, the UN Security Council attempted to pass an unjust resolution, introduced by France, drawing a moral equivalence between Israel and the terrorist organization Hezbollah. I'm delighted to report that the United States vetoed this reprehensible resolution. I thank the Lord that America stood in the gap and pursed justice not only for Israel, but on behalf of all peace-loving people who acknowledge the difference between good and evil.
Thank you for being one of the millions of the Christians United for Israel members who share Israel's true story and make clear to the world that it is a just and righteous nation, treating people of all faiths and backgrounds with equality and dignity, even while living in a cruel and unjust neighborhood.
The faithful giving of your resources and of your invaluable time this year have allowed CUFI to change the course of history in pursuit of justice for Israel's sake. Recently, our Israel Collective Initiative (IC) led another successful tour to the Holy Land with several high-level influencers from Washington, DC. The political reach of these new IC alumni is staggering. Those who embarked on this enlightening journey are more than eager to implement everything they experienced and learned about Israel and her people in the halls of our nation's capital. We thank you for making this life-changing trip possible.
Your sacrificial support is directly influencing countless individuals who will in turn impact countless more in areas of extreme importance throughout Washington, the world of social media, the music and movie industry, pastors, student campus leaders, academia, sports figures and so many more!
There is a Jewish proverb that says, "As you teach, you learn." We are so thankful for your obedience to God's biblical mandate to support Israel, and in order to help you lead your friends, family, and coworkers to follow in our commitment to Israel and the Jewish people, we have included with this letter a recently produced CUFI primer on the biblical foundation of Christian Zionism. We hope and pray that this primer will help you share the truth about Israel with your loved ones knowledgeably and winsomely.
While the UN and many world leaders are trying to delegitimize Israel's right to the land and as Iran is continuing to flex its muscle through their defiant support of Hamas and Hezbollah, and while anti-Semitism is rearing its ugly head around the globe, our unity is more invaluable than ever as we stand as one in defense of Israel.
As the IC tour participants explored the Pilgrim's Road, which lies underneath the City of David, our guide addressed the group with these heartfelt words, "You (CUFI) are the key to maintaining the US-Israel relationship which is protecting the Jewish people and our ancient roots from the de-legitimization of our history."
And we add that you are the key to strengthening and shaping Christian support for Israel in America. As Christians all across the nation gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving by praising the Lord for the rich blessings He has afforded us, we are exceedingly grateful for your generous and faithful commitment to stand with us as together, we steadfastly support Israel and her people.
May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you this Thanksgiving season.
With Deep Gratitude,
